Review: Black-Eyed Susans

Black-Eyed Susans Black-Eyed Susans by Julia Heaberlin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Published: 13/08/2015
Author: Julia Heaberlin

This novel is mostly centered around a 17year old girl called Tessa who has been nicknamed 'Black-Eyed Susan' due to the fact that she survived a vicious attack from a serial killer. This story has a twist in store for Tessa as when she has helped to put the killer behind bars she didn't realise that years down the line the killers case will be reopened. Black-eyed Susans flowers begin to appear outside her bedroom window seeming to be a message from the dangerous killer that she helped to put behind bars. It is a quest against time as she helps with the investigation and has to relive the moments from her past.
This novel is very well written and captures the readers attention right from the very first sentence and it keeps hold of it right until the very last word in the book. The author does a great job in keeping the book flowing throughout and keeping up the pace so there isn't a slump where you don't want to read it or you even think of putting the book down. The words that the author uses helps the reader to picture the events playing out and the people that were involved in the event.
The novel is told in the point of view of 2 people, one is 17 year old Tessa and the other is the present day Tessa, in alot of books I would have found this very confusing but the author has seperated the two different views by using chapters which helps to keep track of which one the author is telling you about. The characters that feature in the book I thought were really great. I especially like young Tessa, I really felt for her with her going through such a vicious attack that left the other three 'Black-Eyed Susans' dead, you really get a sense of the damage that the event made on Tessa's life.Even though a couple of the twists were predictable it doesn't make this any less of a truly brilliant book to read!

Review: The Sunshine Cruise Company

The Sunshine Cruise Company The Sunshine Cruise Company by John Niven
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Published: 13/08/2015
Author: John Niven

This novel is about two women who have been friends since school and are now both turning sixty. The women are slightly different as Susan seems to have it all, a gorgeous house, a long, steady and loving marriage to an accountant called Barry. But Julie, on the other hand has not being dealt such a fortunate hand, she has put her bad past of failed relationships and also failed businesses behind her and is now glad to have found some stability in her life when she moves into a council flat and starts working at an old people's home.
However everything gets flipped onto its head when Susan's husband Barry is found dead in what first appears to be a secret flat but is actually a sex dungeon. Barry's secret second life all comes spilling out as we learn that the led a double life as a swinger and ran up a fortune in debts that the bank is now going to take from Susan.
The book shows a satirical view on friendship, ageing and the housing bubble. The characters in this novel are described so well by the author that it feels like they are actually real people. Everything thing that he writes about in the novel feels like it could happen, this adds a great depth to the novel as it makes it much easier to get along with and to be able to visualise the journey the two women are going on. The characters are so easy to love, you get a real sense of what the author is wanting them to be like, they are two women who are helped along the journey with the help of a gangster called Nails and a wheelchair bound lady called Ethel. The author adds a great touch of humour and wit to the novel. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I will certainly be reading more by him!

Review: Early One Morning

Early One Morning Early One Morning by Virginia Baily
My rating: 0 of 5 stars

This book is first set 1943 in Rome where the main characters meet for the very first time. One of the characters Chiara is just about to flee the city of Rome when she see's a women, her husband and their young children being loaded onto a truck at gunpoint. Chiara makes a rather rash desicion (which she will late on have to live the consequences of) and says that the young boy is her nephew which releases the boy from the truck and into the possession. Only three decades later does Chiara realise just what she had done, we learn of the heart ache that the little boy (Daniele) caused her and the havoc he filled her life with.
This is an incredibly well written book by a clearly very talented author. At first when you read that she has rescued this little boy you think that it is going to be a touching and heartwarming story about the good deed that she did...but that couldn't be further from the truth! Although this book is about Europe in the war time and the effect i made, it is also about how the choices we make in our lives had a impact on how the future will turn out for us. It is a very powerful, moving and inspiration novel that really makes you think. Chiara is forced to face upto her past and face upto the fact that she knows she will never be able to replace the other that Daniele once had.
When reading this novel I found it very hard to put down and it was one that lost me alot of sleep as I just had to keep reading it and finding out what would hapen next and what else we would uncover from Chiara's past

Review: Northanger Abbey

Northanger Abbey Northanger Abbey by Val McDermid

This was a brilliant twist on a classic story! It kept my attention all the way to the end, it was hard to put it down to even eat or sleep. It doesn't mock the original, neither is it better than the original they are both brilliantly written by outstanding authors. I would recommend for anyone who has read the classic already and anyone who thinks the orignal is 'too old' for them to
read, this book will change your mind about that and make you want to read the original aswell. This book was written as part of 'The Austin Project' where some authors are taking a Jane Austin book are rewritting in it modern times.
This book features the wonderful character of Cat Moorland, who is very easy to like (especially as she loves reading books!), easy to relate to. Some parts of the book were a little bit too hard to believe and too far from the original (in my view), however this didn't stop me from enjoying the book and the decetive 'Nancy Drew' style of the character Cat. I spend many nights not sleeping and just reading this book. It was the first book I had read by Val McDermid and I really enjoy her style of writting, the book flowed nicely and the book kept a great pace throughout keeping the reader on their toes and wondering what Cat is going to do next.

A Guide to Broken Roads A Guide to Broken Roads by Jaroslav Kalac
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Published:31/07/2014

I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads

I thought this was a very good book written extremely well by Jarsolav Kalac. It was a book that kept me reading and reading until the early hours of the morning. It is a book I would happily read again and would recommend to anybody to give it a read and see what they think of it. It was a true joy to be able to read this book I was very happy to have won it!.
This book is about a young man who was raised in Soviet Czechoslovakia who has emigrated to South Africa. This book is full of witchy women, crucified frogs, exploding pigs, black humour and magic realism. This is the type of book that can easily capture the readers attention and carry them on the journey that the author is creating making them imagine the surroundings that they have created, the words they use to describe the places and people paint a vivid image into the readers mind. This book features tales that are entwined in other tales that make the book one that is very hard to put down, the tales dance together in a beautiful dark tango. This is one of the best books I think I have ever read. I would say that people should definately give this book a chance.

Review: The Girl in the Red Coat

The Girl in the Red Coat The Girl in the Red Coat by Kate Hamer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Published: 26/02/2015

I thought that this book was extremely well written and captivated my attention from the very first sentence. This book is about little 8 year old Carmel Wakeford who tragically becomes seperated from her parents at a festival, so when a gentleman finds her and claims to be her grandad she is going to believe him. While her parents are desperately trying to find her with no luck Carmel is sent on a journey that eventually makes her question who she is and who she is going to turn out to be. For a debut novel this one is exceptional and it really kept hold of my attention right until the very last word.
The characters that are in this book are extremely well described and the author adds alot of detail which really makes them come alive in the readers mind, it is like you are there watching everything happen in front of your eyes. The novel is narrated in the voice of little Carmel and also her mother, this is a very interesting method as they are both living through the same event but you get two different view points on it. When I was reading this novel I found myself caring a great deal for Carmel and her mother great especially as the mother (Beth) had just recently split up from her husband and then had to suffur through losing her daughter at the local festival.
I thought that this was a really great read and even though it left alot of questions unawnswered at the end of it, I truly enjoyed reading it and engaging in the novel.

I thought that this was a very well written and inspiration novel. It isn't the type of book that I would normally read but I thought that I would give it a go as it might help improve my life or atleast my way of thinking of life. This book is about the authors life and his experiences with miracles. This is a good book for people who believe that miracles can happen and people who don't really believe in it.
This book isn't just for people who are Christians, it is for everybody as they can all get something out of this book, it can do good to everyone and anyone's life. I would definately give books like this one a chance, as it feels it opened up a part of me that can now see that miracles can happen in your life. This book is very easy to read without all the complicated words and terms which makes it excessable for anybody to read you don't have to be knowledgable in miracles to read this book. It also includes serveral peoples stories/ first hand accounts of the miracles that they have experienced.
The author urges you to believe in mircales, but he does it in a way by using facts and first hand accounts that makes it really seem like miracles are possible. I am not totally sold on the idea but I am definately more open to the idea of it. I am very glad that I won this book and had the chance to read it and also pass it on to other people to see if it can help them.

WOW.....just WOW! This was such a powerful, emotional and moving book to read! I love reading books that are about true life as they can provoc emotions in the reader that you didn't realise were there, even the most hardest of people would be moved by this novel. This is the story of 13year old Zadie told by her foster carer Rosie Lewis.
When I found out what Zadies secret about her past was, I was horrified I dont know how this 13year old girl had managed to keep it too herself the whole time, she is such a brave and inspirational girl. This novel is absolutely beautifully written, I have read alot of true life books but none quite like this one. You really feel for Zadie and what she had to go through. The way that Rosie Lewis narrates this novel is in such a kind way, it shows how tough it is aswell for a foster carer when they take in a girl like Zadie and try to make their life better knowing that they have had an awful life, it must be so rewarding to know that she will make this little girls life so much better.
If you love books that will touch your heart and open your eyes to what horrors are happening to children all around the world and make you want to reach out and help the girl. I would definately recommend this book and I am so happy that I won this book and had the chance to read it.

I thought that this was a really brilliant and awesome Zombie book! It is incredibly well written and shows what an amazing and talented writter Scott M Baker is. If you are someone who enjoys zombie books then this is definately the book for you!
The majority of the story is done in the perspective of Mike Robson who is an officer of the law, this character is extremely well described by the author that you can actually very vividly picture him in your mind as you are reading the book.
Another character that is featured is Natalie who is the leader of the Angel of Death, who are a group of people who she has taught how to take care of themselves and how to shoot a gun. She is also very well described and when you are reading about her you get a real sense of who the character is and how the author is wanting us to see her.
I think that this book wouldn't be a good idea for readers younger than 18 due to there being a few sexual parts and mentions a rape gangs. I absolutely loved reading this book and could happily read this book many more times and I hope to read many more books by this author!

I thought that this book was very well written, it was a book that immediately caught my attention which is being a historical fiction novel. This is a genre that is one of my favourite ones, this book fits the genre very nicely.
This book is set in 1685 in England, the words that the author has used to describe the surrounds/setting really makes you think that you are in England in the 1100's, it pays a very vivid picture in the readers mind. I like the way that the book flowed nicely throughout the novel and kept an even pace which meant that there wasn't part of it that was a struggle to read through.
After reading this novel, I thought that it showed that the author is very talented and has a way with words that makes the reader feel like they are actually there witnessing it all happen. The characters that feature in this novel are very likeable, realistic and ones that are a joy to read about. I hope to read more from this author.

I thought that this book was very well written, it was a book that caught my eye with it's cover but also captured my mind with the words the author used. I havent read a book by this author before but I would defiantely read another of her books.
This is the first book in the Mariposa series of books, even though I hadn't read the first one I didn't feel like I had missed out on anything, the writting style of the author was very easy to adjust to and it flowed nicely throughout the novel keeping the same pace. This book is set in the 1886, which is not an era that I have read alot of books set in. It is a novel that is jam packed with lots of different things which is what keeps hold of the readers attention and keeps them wanting to read on to find out where the author is going to take it next.
The characters that feature in the novel are very well depicted and it is easy to visualise them in your mind and see their surroundings. The characters lives of drama and tragedy are played out in the novel which makes the reader get attached too the characters when you find out more about them and the tragedies that they have had to surrive through. I thought that this was overall a very good book to read! It had everything I expect to find in a really great book, I would recommend that readers aged of 18 only read this due to the graphic sex in some of the chapters.

Review: The Wee Free Men

The Wee Free Men The Wee Free Men by Terry Pratchett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely loved this book! It had me laughing and smiling. I think it is a very well written young adult book and if you are just starting off reading the Discworld Series then this is a good book to start with as it is seperate from the rest of the series, you wont miss out on anything or feel like you have missed out on something. Two really great characters that I think all the readers will love... Tiffany Aching and Nac Mac Feegle.
The unique way that Terry Pratchett uses words draws the reader into the amazing world that he has created, it makes you feel like you are actually there and that it is a real place (oh how I wish that it was!), the characters are described in such a brilliant and magnificant way that the reader can very vividly picture them in your mind. It is one of my most favourite books in the wonderful Discworld series! The characters are just so easy to get along with, they are very likeable.
If you are a fan of fantasy books than I think that this would be a perfect book for you to read, even though it is a fantasy novel it doesn't always seem like it is, you end up feeling like you are reading about a real place that exists which is just one of the brilliant ways that Terry Pratchett manages to use words to grab hold of the readers attention and keep hold of it right through till the very last word, if you put the book down it will soon be bringing you back to it making you want to continue reading it.

I read this book for an exam and I absolutely loved it, not only is it a great book but it opens your eyes up to Asperger syndrome, and to how they see things and how they think. It is a beautiful book and extremely well written. I think it is a must read for everybody. It is a book that alot of people can relate to and it is a story that will touch your heart. It is an excellant read that features Christpher he is an incredible smart and brilliant child who has to struggle with Asperger's however he doesn't let it stop him from living his life and showing everyone that just because he has a syndrome it doesn't mean that he can't be really smart. A truly inspiration novel.
I think that this is a novel that alot of people will be able to identify with, the way the author has written the novel makes you aware of the Aspergers as it is a running theme throughout it but it also helps you to understand what Asperger syndrome is and what it is like for someone who is living with it. It is a truly heartwarming story. The main thing that I would say about this book is that it is a must read for everyone! I read this book about 3times and it never got boring for me, it is a refreshing book about something that I hadn't read about before, didn't really know anything about, but through reading this story and following Christopher in the storyline it has opened my eyes to the syndrome.

Review: 31 Bond Street

31 Bond Street 31 Bond Street by Ellen Horan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Published: 01/02/2011
Author: Ellen Horan

This was an absoulutely amazing book! It was very hard to put it down, it is definately a 'page turner' in this book we follow the investigation to find out who killed the dentist (Dr Harvey Burdell) we see it from the view of Emma Cunningham and Samuel. It is set in New York before the Civil War, we see what it was like for people living there and they way that they believed that things should be. We also see the prejudice that was against Samuel and other people (such as the plan to have them as slaves). It is a fast paced who done it which lets you see it from two points of view which lets you see what is happening at the present (in the trial) and what actually happened to the dentist. It is incredibly well written by the brilliant Ellen Horan, it is definately one of my favourite books that I have read.
This genre of books is one of my favourite genres and I thought that this was a great portrayal of the crime fiction genre. In this novel we are trying to find out who it was that killed Dr Havey Burdell, Emma is in the spot light as she hasn't being married to her for long she has the who village against her, saying it must be her, but with the help, love and support of her daughters she stays strong against everyone who is against her. The story that we read about Samuel is touching and is so descriptive that it does make you feel like you are reading a real life story about someone and reading about the things that happened in his life. This is a truly incredible novel and this shows just how amazingly talented Ellen Horan! I love her writing style.

Wow..I thought that this was a really amazing book and just my type, my brother-in-law lent me this book as I love these kind of books, I hadn't read a book by Tom Wood before but would definately read all of his books! It featured the amazing Victor, who even though he is an assassin he is definately my favourite character! It is a fast paced and unpredictable book with plenty of twists and turns, just when you think you know what is going to happen next it has an unpredictable turn and throws you offguard.
It is expertly written by the outstanding Tom Wood, he is definately one of my favourite authors now! This is part of a series that takes your mind on the adventure with Victor. It is a very addictive book that is nearly impossibly to put down even for a minute. I absolutely love this book and it definately deserves a 5star rating. The writting style of Tom Wood is so easy to adjust and just draws you into the storyline.
Victor is an assassin, possibly one of the best assassins you will read about (in my opinion), he doesnt do things that you would expect an assassin to do, which keeps the reader on their toes and keeps them interested in the storyline, keeps them hooked and makes this novel stand out amongst other novels of the same genre. In this book we follow Victor across 4 continents when a job he is doing goes spectacularly wrong! The pace in the book as we follow Victor keeps the suspense up and keeps the novel interesting. It really is a great book for fans of crime thriller novels

Published: 30/03/2014
Author: Dorian Zari
Edition: Ebook

This copy was provided to me by the author.

I thought that first off it was extremely well written, it has an interesting storyline which is what got me wanting to read it in the first place, it has great charcters and setting. I finished this book I found myself still thinking about it, I found it a very enjoyable read and one that was hard to move away from.
There was some moments when I was slightly confused but it kept my mind working and kept my thoughts on the book, the pace throughout the whole novel is very good and it keeps your attention. The author is clearly very talented as the readers imagination and mind is kept hold of and you are kept wondering what will happen next. Even though there is a few storylines going at the same time, Dorian has done it in such a way that it all flows nicely together. There is moments at the beginning of the novel where it is alittle bit hard to work out which character is talking, however once you get used to the authors style of writing it is easier to work out who is talking at that time.
I absolutely loved reading this book and I am very grateful for the chance I was given to read it. If you like a book where it is hard to work out where the author is going to go with the storyline then this is a good book for you to read.

Okay so I read this book for my gcse english exam and I absolutely loved it! I very rarely give a five star rating but this one definately deserves it, it is packed full of incredible poems. It is a book that has become a firm favourite of mine and one that I could read a million times. When I read this book and had to disect it and find out exactly what the poem was meaning, it pretty much blew my mind!
This book is full of the female version of myth's/legends such as the Mrs Quasimodo version of events that happened, Mrs Icarus, Anna Hathaway. The poems are funny and in some places quite touching especially Anna Hathaway it is possibly my favourite one in the book. I dont really like poetry too much but these ones I found easy to understand, very funny and they are stories that you will remember for a long time. I recommend this book to anyone who has wanted to read it, or has never even heard of it. Carol Ann Duffy is an absolutely incredible poet!
This is also a great book if you are someone who likes books that involve mythology as some of the people featured in the novel are from Greek Mythology but are from the point of view of the partners/wives/sisters of the characters. If you read these poems and look a little bit closer into the poems you can see exactly what the characters are saying and how Carol Ann Duffy id portraying them in such an incredible and talented way.

Review: Curtain

Curtain Curtain by Agatha Christie
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Author: Agatha Christie
Published: 01/09/2000 (first published 1973)

Another great book by Agatha Christie! Poirot is my favourite out of the Agatha Christie books, it is sad that the Hercule Poirot series came to an end but this was a really brilliant ending. I think that this book was brilliantly and expertly written, it gripped my attention and refused to let it go, even after I finished the book my head was still rushing through how Agatha Christie can write such an amazing book. Once again while reading this book I could never have guessed the ending.
The characters and the background/setting painted a vivid picture in the readers mind, and let you really get to know all of the characters. It is sad that the series ended but I shall always enjoy reading through all of the books time after time they will never get old or boring. I love these novels! Each of the characters add something too the novel, even if they seem like background characters at the end they normally have one of the biggest parts in the mytsery, this is one of the things that I love about these books, nothing that Agatha Christie writes about in the novel is just for the sake of it, it all gets tied up together nicely at the end.
I was both happy and sad to read this book, happy because it is Hercule Poirot and sad because it is the last one in the series, however it is definately the kind of book that you can read over and over again, it is a timeless classic (in my view). I would say that this book is suitable for young adults on wards as even though it is a murder mystery book the murders aren't in too much horrible detail where it would give you nightmares which makes it an interesting read that keeps your mind wondering who it is and keeps you focused on the characters and the setting.

I received this book through GoodReads FirstReads competition for free.

I thought that this book was an absolutely brilliant book that was very well written. This book starts off with a warning from Lizzie Brown who is warning us about men, which gives us the perfect outline of what Lizzie Brown is like, the author has managed to capture the characters details in such a way that it very vividly paints a picture of her in the readers mind, she is extremely witty, funny and an all round great character to read about.
In this book Lizzie and Frederick move from the lovely cotton mills in Manchester, which they are very much used to, too London in order to be closer to Karl Marx. Lizzie is a really wonderful central character who seems to readily grasp the new surroundings she finds herself in and gains more confidence throughout the novel. Gavin McCrea is a truly amazing author who manages to make Communism facinating to read about and who makes you feel like you are really there in 19th century London, like you are walking down the streets with them seeing what they are seeing. I could happily read this book again and again and never get bored of it! I love it!
When I was reading this book it really felt like it could have being about an event that had really happened, the descriptions of the surroundings, characters, setting are outstanding they truly capture what it must hae being like to live in that era and place. The novel drew me into it so much that it felt like I was reading a true life story. It really shows how talented the author Gavin McCrea is, if you havent read a book in the historical fiction genre before then I would suggest you try read this one first.

I won this book in the Goodreads FirstReads competition. I thought that this was one of the best written books that I have read, Bobby Underwood is clearly a very talented author, who managed to keep hold of my attention through the whole book. The book contains everything that a good thriller/crime book should do! It is quite fast paced, keeps you wanting to turn the pages, it is very hard to put down and when you do its not long before you are back to the book.
The characters in the book are very well described and they are realistic and very likeable. I kind of guest who it was but I wasn't completely sure which I love in a mystery book I would rather it challenge my mind and make me think like this book did rather than it been obvious. I would definately recommend this book to readers who are fans of crime books. I will definately be reading more books by this author.
This book has all the great points that you expect to find in a great crime book, which makes this book such an amazing novel to read, it has unexpected twists and turns, intrigue, romance and murder that keeps the reader on their toes, the words that the author uses draws the reader into the novel and keeps them hooked onto the novel. I absolutely love Bobby Underwoods style of writing it is one that I could easily adjust to and didn't want the book to ever end.

Review: The Fifth Elephant

The Fifth Elephant The Fifth Elephant by Terry Pratchett

Another amazing book written by an amazing author! In this book we see the characters Nobby Nobbs, the wonderful Sam Vines, Havelock Vetinari , Carrot Ironfoundsson plus many more amazing characters. The setting of this novel is Uberwald. This is book 5 in the City Watch part in the Discworld novels.
This is another great book that transports us into the world that he has created, we go on the adventure with the characters, get to know them and enjoy the adventure with them. Terry Pratchett has a way with words that paints a vivid picture in the readers mind, even though I didn't find this book as funny as the others it is still a brilliant incredible story. I really really enjoyed reading this book.
The words that Terry Pratchett uses are so brilliant and powerful that they can make you feel like you are there, make you picture the Discworld like it is actually a real place and that all the people features are real too. It is one of them kind of books that you can sit down and read and not notice that hours have gone by without you moving, eating, sleeping, blinking or doing anything at all! This book really does caught your attention and hooks your mind not letting you go it keeps bringing you back to reading it. This to me is a sign of a really great book!
Each of the characters add something brilliant too the novel, they add in the humor and they add depth too the novel making it feel extremely realistic too the reader. It is definately one that can be read many times without it getting bored, and it is also one that I will treasure always and never be able to part with it. I love Terry Pratchett books and I particularly love this book!

Review: Eclipse

Eclipse Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer

Okay let just get this out there.... I LOVE TWILIGHT SAGA!...now that is out of the way I can do this review. I thought that this book was an amazing third book in the sage, we get to know the main characters even more and we get introduced to more characters that add a great deal to the storyline, without them and the 'minor' characters this book wouldn't work at all!
We follow the wonderful (but slightly irritating) Bella Swan as she has to choose between life and death...which will she choose? While reading this book I found myself gripping hold of the pages while telling Bella how stupid she was..which shows just how much I got into this book. Stephenie Meyers fills the reader with many different emotions it truly is an emotional rollercoaster that she takes you on. So yeah I pretty much love this book I read it before watching the film and I totally feel in love with the characters and the writing style. Must say I am and pretty much always will be TeamJacob! I have read this book 6 times so far and it doesnt bore me at all. LOVE IT!
The words that Stephenie Meyers uses are powerful and strong and manage to paint a very vivid image in the readers mind of the characters, situations and the surrounding that she is describing. I know alot of people will not agree with my review but hey its my review :). It is a book that is good for Young Adults and for adults aswell. Even if you thought you would never fall for a character in a book Stephenie Meyers portrays them in such a way that you cannot help but fall in love with them! They are all books that when you are reading them you can find yourself completely lost in them and time will fly past you without you noticing, you will find yourself missing out on sleep as you want to keep reading the novel.

Review: The Camelot Shadow

The Camelot Shadow The Camelot Shadow by Sean Gibson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Edition: Ebook

I received this book thanks to the wonderful author Sean Gibson :). Well what can I say....I could not stop reading this novel at all! Everytime I had a spare moment I was back reading it. It has great characters, a great storyline, a great pace, it is extremely well written. The author has a writting style that can draw the readers attention in and captures it, the word's that he uses creates a picture in the readers mind so that they can see what is happening in the book. Alot of people have compared this book to Da Vinci Code...however I think this book is actually better.
The author has a way with words that manages to transport you into the scene that he is creating, the characters are really good and it has an even pace throughout which means that there isn't a dull part to read. This book is both heartwarming/beautiful and heartbreaking, the emotions that this book creates are powerful, it is definately the kind of book that you would be happy to have paid for as an Ebook. I feel very honoured to have being given the chance to read this book and I would definately recommend to other people to give it a true. Sean Gibson is an amazing person and amazing author. I could read this book over and over again without getting bored of it.

If you enjoy reading novels about historical fiction, mystery and Arthurian legend you should definately give this book a read!.

Review: The Miniaturist

The Miniaturist The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton

I absolutely adore this book!!!! I was so so happy when I got this as a present I started to read it straight away. I thought that it was brilliantly well written, the description in the novel truly transported you there to Amsterdam, there with Nella. All of the characters were great none of them blended into the background they all brought something different to the novel.
The character of Nella is one that is very realistic and very likeable. I think that my favourite author is definately Otto (or Toot), his character really spoke to me and I found myself feeling for him. The book was incredibly hard to put down and when I did put it down it wasn't long before I went back too it. When reading it the hours just fly by because you get that sucked into the book and into the story. The thing that drew me to the novel in the first place was the unique and interesting storyline it had. Anyone who wants to read this book you definately should do! I know this book was very hyped up and generally books that are hyped up tend not to live upto your expectations but this book definately does live upto the hype.
This is the type of book that will make you think back too it after you have finished reading it, it engraves itself into your mind, which to me show you just how amazing and powerful a book it is. Every part of the book is relevant, the author doesn't go off talking about nothing making you feel that maybe she had lost where she was going with the book. It is extremely well written the words that are used are powerful and realistic, when reading the words they transport you in your imagination to where the author whats you to be, to see the world she has created in the book. It is one that is very easy to get attached to. It is one that I will definately never be parting with and will pass it down my family.
