I received this book for free through GoodReads FirstReads competitions.

I thought that this book was very well written, it was a book that immediately caught my attention which is being a historical fiction novel. This is a genre that is one of my favourite ones, this book fits the genre very nicely.
This book is set in 1685 in England, the words that the author has used to describe the surrounds/setting really makes you think that you are in England in the 1100's, it pays a very vivid picture in the readers mind. I like the way that the book flowed nicely throughout the novel and kept an even pace which meant that there wasn't part of it that was a struggle to read through.
After reading this novel, I thought that it showed that the author is very talented and has a way with words that makes the reader feel like they are actually there witnessing it all happen. The characters that feature in this novel are very likeable, realistic and ones that are a joy to read about. I hope to read more from this author.
