I received this book for free through GoodReads FirstReads.

I thought that this book was very well written, it was a book that caught my eye with it's cover but also captured my mind with the words the author used. I havent read a book by this author before but I would defiantely read another of her books.
This is the first book in the Mariposa series of books, even though I hadn't read the first one I didn't feel like I had missed out on anything, the writting style of the author was very easy to adjust to and it flowed nicely throughout the novel keeping the same pace. This book is set in the 1886, which is not an era that I have read alot of books set in. It is a novel that is jam packed with lots of different things which is what keeps hold of the readers attention and keeps them wanting to read on to find out where the author is going to take it next.
The characters that feature in the novel are very well depicted and it is easy to visualise them in your mind and see their surroundings. The characters lives of drama and tragedy are played out in the novel which makes the reader get attached too the characters when you find out more about them and the tragedies that they have had to surrive through. I thought that this was overall a very good book to read! It had everything I expect to find in a really great book, I would recommend that readers aged of 18 only read this due to the graphic sex in some of the chapters.
